How can you study with NotebookLM?
NotebookLM is an AI research and study tool that works with sources you add to a project. Abdul Osama (عبدول أسامة) recommends bringing your materials together, asking questions about them, and turning them into formats that make the topic easier to understand and review.
“It works only with the information you give it.” — Abdul Osama
Add your sources
His examples include audio recordings, lectures, meetings, images, slides, YouTube links, PDF documents and handwritten notes. YouTube is a video-sharing platform; PDF is a common document format. He also mentions Google Drive, a cloud file-storage service, as a way to access project materials. Use the import option available for your source type.
Once the materials are in place, ask a specific question or request a summary, comparison or explanation. Abdul highlights the ability to inspect the sources associated with an answer and see where the information came from.
“You can see the sources for its answers in the files you gave it.” — Abdul Osama
Make study materials
Abdul suggests asking for a long or short audio summary, a video overview, a mind map, a presentation, a quiz or flashcards. Pick the output that fits what you need: an overview, a way to organize ideas, or a test of what you remember.
Background
Source links make answers easier to verify, but they do not guarantee that every summary or interpretation is correct. Check the underlying material before relying on an important answer.
What to do next
Start with one topic and add its materials to NotebookLM. Ask for a summary and review questions, then open the cited sources whenever a point needs checking.
