What is the project?
Abdul Osama (عبدول أسامة) says he took an old Amazon Alexa device out of a drawer and turned it into an open-source project he can talk to and connect with other equipment. Amazon Alexa is a voice assistant available on Amazon devices. “Open source” describes software whose code can be inspected and modified under its license. He also names a voice-related component, but its name is unclear in the recording, so it cannot be identified reliably.
What has he done, and what might he try next?
Abdul says he connected the Alexa project to his gaming PC and other systems. The description of those connections is too unclear to serve as a setup guide. Looking through older equipment, he also found a camera that had been on his door. He had replaced it with a camera that does not require a subscription and now wants to try modifying the old one for reuse. He does not say that modification is complete.
“I found this camera that used to be on the door and replaced it with another one that doesn’t require a subscription.” — Abdul Osama
He also found an old phone. After seeing an example of someone connecting an agent to a phone so it could call when it needed something, he decided to experiment with his own version. An AI agent is a program that uses an AI model to help carry out tasks or interact with tools. In this video, the phone-calling idea is a planned experiment, not a finished system.
“I decided to experiment and make my own version.” — Abdul Osama
What should you do next?
Treat the video as a look at possible uses for old devices, not a build tutorial. Before trying a similar project, check your device model, its available development options, and the privacy implications of connecting a phone or camera to an AI agent.
