Stage Manager is a macOS feature that organizes windows into groups. It keeps the group you select in front and moves other groups to the side. Abdul Osama (عبدول أسامة) says this made his Mac workspace feel more organized and helped him focus.
How to turn it on
- Open your Mac’s settings and go to Desktop & Dock.
- Find Stage Manager and turn it on.
- Switch between window groups as you work, and give yourself time to adjust to the different layout.
“For me, it helped me focus.” — Abdul Osama
How Abdul uses it
Abdul describes the problem of windows piling up: finding the one you need takes more effort, and text in other windows can catch your eye. With Stage Manager, he selects a group to work in while the remaining groups stay off to the side.
His example uses ChatGPT, an AI chat assistant, and Claude, another AI assistant. He says he can keep their windows together or return to each one separately. He also notes that the change in how windows behave takes some getting used to.
“Give it a little time, because the way you use it is different.” — Abdul Osama
What to try next
Turn on Stage Manager during a normal work session. Try putting two windows you use together in one group, then see whether moving the others out of view makes it easier to find what you need and stay focused.
